PILSNER

Pilsner beer is named for the Czech brewing town of Pilsen. Out of respect for the tradition behind the style, no one in Europe, other than the three breweries in Pilsen, names their beer Pilsner. Germans who copy the style use the name Pils. The style was first brewed in the 1840's, after the technology to brew lagers was first developed by Carlsberg in Denmark. The Czechs were the first to brew golden colored lager and age them to make them brilliantly clear. This was very popular with the beer drinkers because this period coincided with the rise of the glass industry. People could for the first time see their beer, and the clear golden Pilsner beer looked the best. The style is very heavily hopped due to the abundance of a high quality source of hops grown near by in the region of Zatec.

Our Pilsner is brilliantly clear with a light golden color. It's bitter and has a fresh hop flavor form the heavy addition of Saaz hops.
