HEFE WEIZEN In Germany, the word Hefe means yeast and Weizen means wheat. Therefore, the term Hefe Weizen is defined as an unfiltered wheat beer. Hefe Weizen is extremely popular in Bavaria during the Spring and Summer months. This particular beer is very refreshing. It is served in a half litter glass which is specifically designed to show off it's color and aroma. The aroma is a product of the strain of yeast used during fermentation which is unique to Hefe Weizen. It produces natural flavors which have been described as banana, clove, bubble gum, plastic, band aids Everyone tastes and smells something different! The heavy addition of wheat (50%) softens the flavor of the beer and produces a lot of haze. Although lemon is usually served with a filtered version of this beer, we gladly grant anyone the request of lemon with our Hefe Weizen, although we do not normally do so. Faultline Brewing serves it's Hefe Weizen year round. Back to the Beer Index |
